2023 University of Guelph Katherine Fuller International Scholarship

The University of Guelph – Canada is providing financial assistance to international students who wish to pursue a degree program in the Department of Family Relations and Applied Nutrition.

In the fall, the university will make one $1,000 award, and the recipient must be registered to receive it.

The University of Guelph dates back to 1874, when the Ontario government purchased 200 hectares (500 acres) of farmland from Frederick William Stone and established the Ontario School of Agriculture, later renamed the Ontario Agricultural College (OAC) in 1880. Along with the museum of agriculture and horticulture, the Experimental Farm was part of the original project. Moreton Lodge, located where Johnston Hall now stands, was its first structure, and it housed classrooms, residences, a library, and a dining room. In 1874, the school established an apiculture department in a separate building to teach students about bees and beekeeping. In recent years, the program has continued at the Arboretum’s Honey Bee Research Centre, which conducts research on honeybee health, offers apiculture and beekeeping courses, and provides “many other educational experiences,” including informative videos for beekeepers.
