A Kogi court has sentenced EFCC Chairman Bawa to prison for the second time for contempt.
Abdulrasheed Bawa, the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), was sentenced to prison by a Kogi State High Court for allegedly disobeying a court order.
The court also ordered the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, to arrest Bawa and remand him in Kuje prison for 14 days until he repents of his contempt.
In her decision on Monday, Justice Rukayat Ayoola granted the EFCC chairman’s application for committal to prison for disobeying a court ruling delivered on November 30, 2022, in which the EFCC chairman was directed to produce the applicant in the case, Ali Bello.
Ali Bello had taken Bawa to court for being arrested and detained.
