President Muhammadu Buhari will travel to Qatar on Saturday for the fifth United Nations Conference on Least Developed Countries (LDC).
Buhari’s trip to Doha, the capital, follows an invitation from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
The conference that takes place once every ten years on the theme “From potential to prosperity” will take place from 5 to 9 March.
The summit will find solutions to the problems of poverty, food insecurity, hunger, weak infrastructure, inadequate health facilities and climate change.
It gains support from the international community to accelerate sustainable development in least developed countries and helps them progress towards prosperity. In his address, President Buhari will reiterate the need for durable solutions for countries facing major challenges.
It will reaffirm Nigeria’s commitment to supporting these nations and highlight the government’s support over the years.
The delegation includes ministers and other officials who will sign a number of MoUs and MoUs with the government of Qatar.
Presidential spokesman Garba Shehu said the president is expected to return to the country on Wednesday.
