An operations manager of a leading commercial bank in Abuja’s central business district was arrested on Monday by Economic and Financial Commission operatives for refusing to load the bank’s Automated Teller Machines despite having N29 million in new naira notes in the branch’s vaults.
Before removing him for further questioning, the operatives ordered the loading of all ATMs and the payment of the specified amount across the counter, much to the delight of the distraught customers who had waited in line for hours without receiving the new notes.
Wilson Uwujaren, the EFCC’s Head of Media and Publicity, revealed this in a statement obtained by our correspondent on Monday.
This discovery, according to Uwujaren,
Just a look little opportunity and u are misusing it already. You are there pointing accusing finger on others while u are the chief of crimes
