Fellowship Program for Emerging Musical Leaders at One Beat in 2023

OneBeat is now taking applications for the OneBeat Virtual Residency fellowship program, which will bring together about 20 musicians from up to 50 eligible nations and territories virtually. This completely virtual residency program will run from July 10 through September 4, 2023. During this 8-week period, One Beat Fellows will experiment with new kinds of virtual collaboration and collaborate to create, produce, and perform new musical works. The fellowship consists of 28 working days spread over eight weeks to provide for both online and asynchronous offline project development time.

Selected Fellows will engage in virtual master classes and open studios, as well as online workshops and a final presentation for a global audience.

One Beat Virtual provides Fellows with a one-of-a-kind opportunity to nurture ideas.

Musicians, sound artists, and sonic explorers, ages 19-35, from eligible countries and territories (link to current list) are invited to apply. Fellows will receive a $1,500 USD honorarium and a modest per diem for their online participation. OneBeat Virtual is an initiative of the U.S. State Department’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs in collaboration with the groundbreaking New York-based music organization Bang on a Can’s Found Sound Nation.

NOTIFICATION Applicants will be notified of the review panel decision by the end of May 2023.
