The Federal High Court in Lagos sentenced a landlord, Saheed Ojomu, to five years in prison for allowing his tenant to store 372.6 kilograms of cannabis in his shop.
Justice Daniel Osiagor delivered the verdict after Ojomu, 51, changed his plea from “not guilty” to “guilty” during his arraignment by the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) in 2017.
The NDLEA arrested Ojomu on March 31, 2017 after discovering the prohibited substance in one of his shops at No. 1, Osho Street, Lagos Island, Lagos.
He claimed that the marijuana belonged to one of his tenants, Sakiru (now at large).
